Food Spot | Tootsie's Tagaytay

By huayyu - 11/01/2019

Living in the Philippines, we always have warm weather all year round.  Now that December is near, it is time for that well-deserved break and what best way to do that is by going to Tagaytay.  Tagaytay is one of the top destinations for both tourists and locals alike.  Locals love it there because of the cold air it brings especially during the Holiday season.  I am sharing with you one of my favorite restaurants that will truly warm you with their home-cooked meals, Tootsie's.

Tootsie's is located at the side of the main road which may make it difficult to go especially if you are coming from Manila but it is definitely worth it.  I suggest you go there a little bit early to avoid traffic on the highway and because there are only limited parking slots.

Here are what we ordered:

TINULMOK: PHP 270.00

Tinulmok is a local Bicolano dish that is made out of coconut milk and shrimp and wrapped in taro leaves.  I have always been a fan of coconut milk dishes but this is my first time to try out this dish and I didn't regret that we ordered this.  Very flavorful dish.  You can really taste the coconut milk and shrimp.

FRIED TAWILIS: PHP 210.00

If you are set on having a home-cooked meal then Fried Tawilis is a must-order.  Small fishies that are deep-fried for a very crispy taste.

SPECIAL PORK SISIG: PHP 240.00

One of the local favorite which is usually paired with a beer but for this time it is best paired with white rice!

SINIGANG NA ULO NG SALMON SA MISO: PHP 325.00

I am not really a fan of salmon because they have a strong fishy smell.  Surprisingly, this dish does not have a fishy smell at all and the sourness of the Sinigang is not too overpowering.

NILAGANG BULALO: PHP 490.00

A must-order when going to any restaurant in Tagaytay, Bulalo.  This dish is a local favorite stew that is made of beef shanks and bone marrow.  Tootsie's Bulalo is one of my favorites because it has large chunks of beef and the broth is flavorful.  One of the best dishes to order during cold weather.

BINAGOALAMANG BABOY: PHP 275.00

Best paired with rice because of the saltiness of the "Bagoong" or shrimp paste.  I literally mixed the sauce with plain with rice.  You can't help but eat a lot of rice with this dish.

LECHON KAWALI: PHP 305.00

I love how crunchy and chewy the pork is.  The only thing is that it is too expensive for a few pieces of sliced pork.

Overall, Tootsie's definitely has the home-cooked meal taste and charm.  I would definitely come back again especially during the cold season.  I would love to drink the Bulalo soup again.
