With all the stress of daily family responsibilities and our day job, it is no wonder that there are a lot of restaurants opening that caters to comfort food.  Foods that relieve the stress of our everyday lives.  Nono's is one of those restaurants that delivers classic comfort food.


Created by Chef Baba Ibazeta Benedicto, Nono's concept is simple: "Comfort food is simple.  It is heartwarming.  It is nourishing.  It is home."  I love how Chef Baba turned her passion of creating food into something comforting for others.

Here are what we ordered:

FRIED KESONG PUTI WITH CANDIED WALNUTS: PHP 355.00

Sweet and salty is the best way to describe this dish.  A perfect balance to get your palate ready for the main course.  This dish is served with toasted baguette slices.  I love how the bread is sliced in small pieces which makes them easier to eat.

FRIED TRUFFLE CHEESE WANTON: PHP 165.00

A simple way to start your meal.  Soft and gooey inside and a bit crunchy on the outside.  This dish is made for cheese lovers out there.

ROASTED BEEF BELLY: PHP 565.00

One of the things that I look for in a beef dish is how soft or tough the meat is.  I was actually surprised that the meat is soft and because of the layers of fat in between, it gave an overall chewy texture and drizzled with Balsamic Glaze, a perfect comfort food. Served with Mashed Potatoes, it is my first time that I love a Mashed Potato without drowning it in gravy.     

ALMOND CRUNCH ICE CREAM SUNDAE: PHP 225.00

Lastly, we can't forget about dessert.  I was actually disappointed with this dessert because not only it is too expensive for 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream, the almond crunch made the whole thing taste too sweet.  I would be fine with plain almonds rather than a crunch or candied one.  For a price of Php 225, I would at least expect it to be the size of a parfait.


Overall, the food is great except for the dessert and the service is good.  This would be a good place to hold team dinners or maybe business meetings as it is close to offices in Makati plus defeat the rush hour traffic since it is possible to walk going to the restaurant instead of driving.
