Food Spot | El Corazon Uptown Mall

By huayyu - 9/04/2019

Filipino and Spanish culture have always been so close to each other.  So it is not a surprise that the same goes for their cuisine as well.  And El Corazon gives that to us, the mix of Filipino and Spanish cuisine.

You might find the names a bit intriguing since most of them are Spanish but it has the taste of Filipino dishes that we all love.  And of course, some of our local favorites as well.

Here are what we ordered:

LUMPIANG HUBAD: PHP 275.00

Why call it Lumpiang Hubad?  Because it isn't wrapped.  Assorted vegetables that is drizzled with peanut sauce.  If you have been reading my blog, you would know that I am not a fan of vegetables but this dish will make any picky eaters eat their veggies.

PAELLA VALENCIANA: PHP 695.00

Prawns, Squid, Mussels, Fish Fillet, Chicken, Pork, Chorizo, Vegetables, and Egg.  What more could you ask for when this dish has almost everything in it from seafood to chicken to pork and vegetables.  Oh and did I forgot to mention that this also includes rice?  A perfect meal.

CADIZ: PHP 595.00 WHOLE | PHP 325.00 HALF

The classic Crispy Fried Chicken topped with toasted garlic.  This one tastes just a bit like Max's Fried Chicken.  Maybe because it is not served with gravy just like other restaurants do.  They are served with ketchup and soy-sauce with chili.

CAMARASA: PHP 595.00

Prawns cooked in crab fat or aligue.  This one tastes best with plain rice because the sauce is already rich and so that you could better taste the crab fat.  A bit expensive since there are only 5 pieces of shrimp in the dish but definitely worth it.  I think I cleaned off this plate because the sauce was so good.

BASILIO: PHP 395.00

Daing na bangus ala pobre.  This is a typical fish that is cooked at home.  I just love that it is topped with lots of toasted garlic on top.  It is served with enselada and achara on the side.

El Corazon's dishes are not something new to us locals but all of the food that we ordered tastes good.

I would love to hear your favorite Filipino or Spanish dishes.  Comment down below.
