Osakatsu

Osakatsu is the new Japanese restaurant that we discovered at Valero St., Salcedo Village.  We were actually excited about here because we heard that they offer Unlimited Kushikatsu for only Php490++ per person.

The place is located on the second floor so it is a bit hard to find.  Although they did put signage on the ground floor.  Inside, it is somewhat small especially if you have a large party with you.  They could only accommodate about 2 large parties of 12 and the rest are already by twos or fours.

For the Unlimited Kushikatsu,  aside from the Kushiskatsu, the offer includes rice, curry sauce (with little bits of chicken skin), chicken teriyaki, noodles, maki and ramen ( 1 serving only - which is just a very small amount of soup with a small amount of ramen).

What I did with the rice, curry sauce and the teriyaki is combined them together like a rice bowl.  It is surprisingly good especially the curry sauce.

Osakatsu Rice Topping

For the Kushikatsu, you need dip it is 3 coatings: flour, whitewash, bread crumbs (in that order) then fry it. You can place the Kushikatsu on the side after it is cooked to prevent it from burning.

By the way, the Unlimited Kushikatsu has a time limit of 1 hour and 30 minutes.  Also, if you are going there with a very big group, make sure you all arrive at the same time.  Once one of you started, the time starts running.

I was actually a bit disappointed with their Kushikatsu because most of what they offer is shabu-shabu balls that are fried.  If you are familiar with the food cart called "PotDog", then they are serving the same except for the bread crumbs.  Tastes exactly the same as well.  Price is okay since there are a lot of inclusions however you won't be able to eat much because you would get tired of it ("umay") as they are all fried food. No need to worry about the time limit.  I think we finished eating in less than an hour.

Final verdict, it was okay for me.  But if you are a fan of fried food and shabu-shabu balls then this restaurant is definitely for you.
